For her summer field research plans, CUSA graduate researcher Tera Dornfeld will travel to Dana Point to directly work with whales and dolphins with the Earthwatch Initiative. Earthwatch is an international environmental charity dedicated to engaging people worldwide in scientific field research and education to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment.
Dornfeld will then travel to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to work with wetland ecosystems and invasive species mapping. On both projects she will be a teen team facilitator and will help engage teenagers in scientific research and help the principal investigator researchers collect high-quality data. Dornfeld admits she is very excited, as she has worked on a similar project a few summers ago in Nova Scotia.
